Recently co-opted onto the Board of WineGB, as a new Director I have been tasked with looking into Standards and Regulation for the growing UK wine industry. Whilst at Hattingley I was the Executive Director in charge of production, taking an active role on the Board.

I can offer a non-Executive oversight for your wine business with regard to production.

If you’re looking for a speaker for an event, conference or dinner, I have given talks and hosted panel discussions at various international events related to wine from academic conferences to after-dinner entertainment at private members clubs.

Vintners Company

I became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Vintners in February 2020 which led to my receiving the Freedom of the City of London in December 2021. I was then elevated to the Livery of the Vintners in February 2022 and I am now on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee as the Company seeks to broaden the scope of its membership.

Wine Judging

I was the Technical Expert Judge on the Daily Mail Wine Awards for the four years from 2018 to 2021 alongside Matthew Jukes and revolving panel of celebrity judges including Gary Barlow, Fred Sirieix and Sir Ian Botham. I have also been a judge for WineGB Wessex and Challenge Euposia in Italy.

Industry Oversight

As the former Chair of the WineGB Working Group on Winemaking I was responsible for organising 14 webinars on Technical Winemaking during the pandemic between 2020 and 2021. The recordings are available to members of WineGB with a select few free to view on YouTube

I was on the panel consulted about the recent proposed changes to the PDO and PGI regulations for English Sparkling Wine.  I remain an active member of the Winemaking Working Group and involved with WineGB as the industry goes through its current phase of expansion and rapid growth.

Writing

Drawing on my experience at the publisher, Mitchell Beazley, I have written several articles over the years, most recently on Winery Design in Fruit & Vine Magazine,  as well as co-authoring The Winegrowers’ Handbook with Dr Belinda Kemp.
